The Dibella Famiglia Story
For over 100 years, the DiBella family recipes have been passed down from generation to generation. Created in the late 1800s by DiBella family matriarch Sophia and her daughter Anna in their tiny brick and tile kitchen in Sicily, these recipes were brought to the New World in 1910.
In 1923, Anna began teaching her children the joy of baking and cooking, and daughter-in-law Josephine built on that heritage, refining the family’s favorite recipes over the years, and adding an extra dose of love for her children.
By the 1930s, Josephine had adapted her mother-in-laws cooking and baking techniques and authentic Italian recipes, making them her own with just a little something extra. Josephine and her family became known in her Rochester neighborhood through their Italian bakery/market for baking and selling authentic Italian breads and cookies.
By the early 1940s, Josephine in keeping the DiBella family tradition alive passed down and taught her only daughter, Anne in carrying on the DiBella tradition of baking and cooking authentic Italian dishes, breads, pastries and cookies. As the DiBella family grew, Grandma Josephine in the mid 1960s, began teaching her two granddaughters, Joyce and Dianna what the DiBella family had been famous for since the late 1800s.
In 2010 Anne DiBella, daughter of Grandma Josephine, her daughter Dianna, and grandson Dennis united the family together to form and create the DiBella brand in memory of Grandma Josephine. Grandma Josephine's passion for cooking and baking has kept the DiBella family growing together, and driven them to share her love of authentic Italian baked goods with the world.
Grandma Josephine’s legacy lives on today through four generations that continue the family’s heritage of baking timeless, authentic Italian baked products. Our old-fashioned authentic Italian recipes are what make the DiBella brand a tradition in authentic Italian baking.
